5 Tips to improve Online Coaching

June 14, 2021 By kubandren.reddy@gmail.com

Coaching is evolving.

We’ve all needed to adapt to our new reality.  Working from home and new experiences like on-line meetings, pet interruptions and child cameos have been the norm.  How did we cope with the challenges?

Necessity is the mother of invention.

We turned to technology to help us connect, work, and collaborate.  Coaching is no different.  Coaching works on building a trust relationship, and many people found that its more convenient to meet remotely, but they are easily distracted than when they meet in person.

Tips to improve your on-line coaching experience:
Minimize distractions.

Use a private, comfortable space where you can talk openly.  Deal with distractions before the session, like moving pets to the back yard or asking the child-minder to take the little ones out for a treat.

Get good equipment.

Make sure you have a good internet connection, or a back-up when things go wrong.  Test your phone or tablet as an alternative.  A good quality camera reduces distortion that cause visual distractions. Check your load-shedding schedule.  Load-shedding and technical problems have been the bane of effective meetings since we’ve moved online, where possible set-up your connection in advance.

Use the right medium.

Flexibility is key, people may be travelling or attending a personal event before or after the session. Using a cell-phone or tablet can ensure that sessions are maintained.

Manage the time.

Prepare for coaching, think about the outcome you want, but be prepared to explore or learn together.  Coaching sessions are free-flowing and can end up taking an interesting turn.  Allow time for reflection.

Be consistent.

As on-line meetings are convenient, people easily find reasons why other things become more important.  Motivate yourself by setting clear goals and timelines.  A coach gives you the opportunity for learning, authentic self-reflection, and growth with someone that can relate, and who you can trust.  Keep to your sessions to reap the rewards.

I have many customers that prefer on-line coaching.

My coaching business has evolved.  I’ve found that many of my customers are merging their work and home-life.  We often discuss the impact of both on their success.  Consider your success and let us work together to realize it.

Skills Development is no longer a Matter of Choice

March 24, 2021 By kubandren.reddy@gmail.com

One of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves is to remain “Future Proof” – by being current, relevant and authentic.

Over and above ensuring that we are current in our field, it is crucial we have an aerial view of the career eco-system.   It is necessary we take a futuristic view of what our profession holds for the future so we can be ready for it.

Apart from keeping current in our industry of work, there is extreme pressure on us to consider the impact of technology in our field of work.

See the video below:  The impact of Technology in SA Job Market.

PwC Survey states that 40 % of workers say that their digital skills have been improved through the prolonged period of lockdown

March 24, 2021 By kubandren.reddy@gmail.com

Be Bold!!!  Embrace the Chameleon in you.

We can all agree that the pandemic has radically shifted certain workforce trends.   I am not talking about just working virtually.  Some of us have begun to acquire skills we never dreamt we were capable of.

Prior to the pandemic, a major part of my life would be spent flexing my calendar so as not to miss out on any invitations (business or personal).    When the lockdown started, I felt like a cheetah living in a tortoise shell.

As the weeks moved on, I nervously moved my business and social activities onto the virtual platforms.   I was tapered into expressing my huge personality through a laptop screen.  Then there was the nervous navigation into all other social media platforms, blogging and creating videos.  I have never felt more regulated and grounded as a human being, as the new way of work became normal to me.

We are all so vastly different as human beings – every individual has had their own experiences.    To give us more context, let us look at a new survey done by PwC.  The sample consists of 32,500 workers in 19 countries.

In this survey, 60 % of people believe that automation is putting many jobs at risk; 48 % believe ‘traditional employment won’t be around in the future’ and 39 % think it is likely that their job will be obsolete within 5 years.  The research further states that 77 % are ‘ready to learn new skills or completely re-train’ and 74 % see training as a matter of personal responsibility.

We all wake up to a clean canvas every day.  Every day is a new opportunity.  Dare to use the colors and paint your story.
